The Harlem Blues and Jazz Band plays on Saturday night Oct. 23. It is the world’s most authentic swing band. It stars seven veteran jazz and blues musicians and one vocalist. The band has a strong link to Louis Armstrong from its beginnings. George James, the first saxophonist in the band, was with Armstrong in the ‘30’s, Armstrong bassist Johnny Williams joined and remained with the band for 25 years until his death in 1998 . “Fats” Waller’s guitarist, Al Casey, joined the band in 1981. Al Vollmer created the Harlem Blues & Jazz Band never suspecting that it would become one of the longest continually performing jazz groups in existence. An impressive number of musicians from the classic age of jazz and swing eras have graced the group throughout the years, thereby giving an enviable authenticity and historical significance to the band’s performances and recordings.

Check out one of their recordings.

ALHC is legolicious.

“lego” means “play well” in Danish and “put together” in Latin.

This year we are merging Team and Collegiate Team. So only 3 couples are needed tto take the floor! And although you probably haven’t noticed Showcase is not limited to Lindy. Had a Bal couple last year and a Collegiate Shag couple this year.

Legos are fun.

We’ve got 3 bands planned Can’t be more fun than dancing to live music.

Legos allow people to be very creative and allow them to use their imagination.

Isn’t musicality and technique and exciting choreography are elements of design created with these building blocks?
