Fall Fusion For Your Feet

Greg & Laurie began teaching together in 1998. They specialize in Lindy Hop, West Coast Swing, Blues Dancing and Fusion Dancing -having traveled the U.S., Canada, and Europe teaching. In addition, they have organized workshops and hosted many live music events in their hometown of Philadelphia, PA. Greg has been the music coordinator at events as diverse as the American Lindy Hop Championships and The Fusion Exchanges. Greg & Laurie are best known for breaking down connection and musicality and teach very focused classes in song structure and finding musical elements. Their movement classes are based on simple principles which they systematically use to show how habits of movement create clear leading and following with minimal effort. Guided by the thought that teachers should share their experience of connection and movement along with a solid understanding of how music works, Greg and Laurie have produced many students who are comfortable social dancers, proficient teachers, and award winning competitors. Their favorite on-going endeavor is 18 years of teaching a 40 member Lindy troupe -The West Philly Swingers at the University of Pennsylvania - which performs 20 new choreographies a year. Greg and Laurie are sure to give you some really memorable techniques to improve your dance confidence! Classes during the day include:

Elements of Connection: Need "One Weird Trick" to improve your dancing? We’ve got you covered! We will discuss 7 elements used in connection and teach you exercises for each one. Watch out for flying metaphors! (applies to all dances).

11:15am-12:30pm

Lead Follow: There is no trick to good leading and following. We’ll show you how to use Elements in Lead/Follow to make your partnered movement clear and collaborative, so you can work as a team with any partner.

2:00pm-3:15pm

Mapping the Music: This class is about listening to and "mapping" music. You’ll learn to understand music better as a story, to predict musical changes more like a musician, and to dance with the music instead of dancing patterns over it. This is Amanda Garner's favorite musicality class!

3:15pm-4:30pm

How to Have the Best Dance of your Life… Every Time! We are sure to teach this class *every year* to our Swing troupe! It's one of the reasons Philly has such a fun dance scene. It sounds like a miracle, and it is! Trust us! It won't cure your allergies, but you and whoever you dance with will have a great time.
